Kodiak Mission Trip 2009 - Week 2

8:00 am  Worship time- the Pastor is missing.  Maybe his legs are really hurting and he can't climb the stairs to make it to Chapel?  After Chapel we continued to paint the Picket Fence for the 4th beautiful day.  We brought the Kansas sunshine with us so we could be productive and get much accomplished.  After lunch we took a little rest and relaxed a little.  The water was shut off at 3pm due to a line break.  Many of us went out to eat and a few stayed back and had leftovers.  The food has been delicious that Terri and Rob prepare and I wonder if my figure will expand side ways on this 2 week mission.  In the evenings we have been having our own personal Bible study time and then take in some of the area sights.  Last night we went to Pillar Mountain and it was absolutely beautiful and saw many large wind turbines on top.  The view was breathtaking... You could see the whole town of Kodiak.  Plenty of photo opportunities.  I always thank God for showing me one of his creations.  Kodiak is such a beautiful place,  especially in the summer.  In the winter I think I will leave it to the locals.  Although very beautiful... There's no place like home!

We spent Tuesday scraping and priming the Food Bank building. It was a team effort!  It was in dire need of the work we put into it.  Next we plan to put a fresh coat of paint on it and it will look good as new.  We are enjoying beautiful weather here still in Kodiak with no rain as of yet.  God is good!  We also glazed and repaired a broken window in the upstairs part of this building which serves as the Chapel here at the mission.  This building is used on Mondays and Thursdays for Food Bank distribution.  It should look beautiful by Thursday for the next pick up.  We wish to thank everyone who has made this trip possible for us and we send a special hello to our families that are back home while we serve.  We miss you all and look forward to sharing our experiences with you soon.  Pray for us as we continue to do Gods work here for a few more days.

The above picture is the sign that hangs at the Kodiak Baptist Mission entrance.  We were asked to give it a face lift.  Here is the finished project.  It was unreadable prior to our handiwork.  The Food Bank building is completely painted and trimmed.  Today we started scraping, and priming the Pump House.  Painting will more than likely take place tomorrow.   It should not take us long.  We have been blessed with another beautiful work day here at the Mission and the plans for the evening include Kayaking to Camp Woody possibly.  Those of us that are staying back and not Kayaking will be packaging the Halibut, Salmon, and Cod for the long trip back to Kansas.  More updates tomorrow.  May God bless you all richly!

Our time at the Kodiak Baptist Mission is coming to a close.  Our work is complete and we are ready to be back in Kansas.  We are grateful for all who have supported us and we hope you have been able to feel a part of this trip with us by keeping you informed of what we are doing by watching this website.  God has blessed us through this adventure and thank you again for praying us through and making it possible.  We leave Kodiak at 4:45pm Alaska time and will land in Wichita around 10:45am Saturday Kansas time.  Pray for safe travels and for the fog to lift in Kodiak so we can fly out.
